RPT tax holiday declared in Parañaque
MANILA, Philippines - The residents of Parañaque City were pleased to hear a “tax holiday” declared on RPT or Real Property Taxes by Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr.
Atty. Lino Sandil, City Council Secretary, in accordance with the enacted Ordinance No. 09-15 Series of 2009, said, “An ordinance of providing financial relief through a tax holiday for a limited period to owners of real properties in the City of Parañaque,” as proposed by City Councilors Florante Romey, Jr. and Giovanni Esplana, under the direction of Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr., states that all owners of undeclared/mis-declared real properties who voluntarily declared them for tax purposes before March 31, 2010, shall only pay the basic tax without penalties or surcharges for the last five years instead of paying the tax due thereon for the last 10 years as provided under Section 222 of the Local Government Code of 1991.
Likewise, delinquent real properties that have not yet been issued a notice of delinquency by the City Treasurer’s office, may likewise pay their back taxes without penalties or surcharges until March 31.
Tax mappings will be conducted in Parañaque City to determine real properties that have not been declared for tax purposes after March 31. In such cases, the owners will have to pay back taxes for the last 10 years as stated in the tax law of 1991.
