Savings and solutions with the Nokia Standard Chartered card

-

In an unprecedented alliance, Nokia and Standard Chartered Bank (StanChart) partnered to offer a new credit card with unrivaled features, the Nokia Standard Chartered credit card.

The new card will reward people for staying connected. Simon Yuen, StanChart Consumer Banking head, stressed StanChart’s continuing commitment to the Philippine market.  “Despite the global economic meltdown, StanChart believes the Philippines will remain a robust market that will grow tremendously in the next few years,” he said. “We have been here for more than a century and we will continue to be here to witness and help fuel that growth. The launch of this new credit card is a manifestation of our faith in the Philippine economy.”

Nokia Philippines general manager William Hamilton-Whyte expressed his optimism about the partnership: “Nokia is proud to have forged a partnership with a stable and prestigious bank for the new Nokia Standard Chartered card and we hope consumers will appreciate and enjoy its myriad benefits.”

According to Supratim Pandey, StanChart general manager for Credit Cards and Personal Loans, the new credit card addresses the need to balance expenses with savings. “Wise and practical spending that gives something back to the consumer, in other words, is what this new credit card aims to give our customers. Where else can anyone find such value-for-money features as a 10 percent cash rebate on prepaid load, 5 percent cash rebate on postpaid mobile phone bills, 0.5 percent cash rebate on all other transactions, as well as exclusive discounts, and special 0-percent-interest-rate installment deals on the purchase of Nokia phones, all offered below standard retail price!”

Pandey explained, “Cash rebates are earned in the form of pesos instead of the usual rewards points that require conversion from credit card rewards programs. The cash rebates that cardholders earn may be used to redeem Nokia phones through the Nokia Best Deals Program. Cash rebates may also be redeemed to apply as cash credit to their credit card account.”

Furthermore, StanChart’s Prepaid Load Facility provides a new and convenient way to buy prepaid load charged to the credit card. Buying and even sending prepaid load is simply done through a single text message. All prepaid load purchases through the Prepaid Load Facility earn a 10 percent cash rebate.

Cardholders may also enroll their postpaid subscriber accounts to Standard Chartered’s EZ Bills Facility to automatically charge dues and fees to their credit card. All postpaid mobile phone bills from Globe, Smart or Sun charged to EZ Bills earn a 5 percent cash rebate. Other household utility bills such as electricity, cable TV and landline, to name a few, may also be charged to EZ Bills. These as well as all other non-installment retail purchase will earn a 0.5 percent cash rebate.

Pandey concluded, “With credit card benefits this good, it makes sense for anyone who has a phone to avail of the Nokia Standard Chartered Card. Nokia and StanChart combined our two companies’ strengths to provide customers with savings and solutions to their evolving needs.”
