An affordable new way to call abroad

- Julie Cabatit-Alegre -

Remember the time when calling loved ones abroad entailed major planning and preparation? Long-distance calls used to be so costly that you had to make sure every peso you spent for each second of conversation was well worth it. Some even thought of ingenious tricks to save on their phone bills such as making the call then hanging up, just to send a signal to their relatives abroad to call them back. And once a connection was made, the conversation went fast and furious, ever conscious of the oppressive meter ticking away. Thank goodness those days are now gone.

“Precious moments are best savored if done in an unhurried manner,” says Sky Cable marketing head Rey Montinola. “Sky Voice is a new way to call abroad that offers generous talk time at highly competitive rates. For as low as 44 centavos per minute, you can bond and spend quality time with friends and family even if you are continents apart.”

Sky Voice is exclusive to Sky Cable subscribers with ZPDee broadband Internet service, which is another compelling reason to subscribe to ZPDee’s blazing download speeds, if you have not yet done so.

Now available in most parts of Metro Manila, “Sky Voice brings together the technology and industry leadership of Sky Cable and ZPDee to give you a unique IDD (International Direct Dial) calling service facility,” explains Allan Gagayan, head of the software solutions department. Covering as many as 21 countries, subscribers can choose from five reasonably priced Sky Voice packages available to suit every communication need. All Sky Voice tariffs are based on a fixed monthly rate and are in pesos, so rates aren’t affected by currency fluctuations.

Plan 1000 USA is ideal for frequent callers to the US. Pegged at P799 per month, it comes with free 1,000 minutes per month for calls to landline and mobile phones anywhere in the US except Hawaii and Alaska. With Plan 2500 USA and Plan 2500 Canada, the monthly fixed rate is P1,099, which comes with free 2,500 minutes’ talk time per month for landline and mobile phone calls anywhere in the US except Hawaii and Alaska, and anywhere in Canada .

Frequent callers to North America may avail of Plan 2500 USA/Canada, which costs P1,399 per month. Subscribers to this plan will also enjoy a free monthly 2,500-minute talk time, which they can use to call landline and mobile numbers anywhere in the US except Hawaii and Alaska, or Canada. Plan 2500 21 Countries is offered at P1, 699 with 2,500 free talk-time minutes every month. The free minutes can be used for landline and mobile phone calls to the US (except Alaska), Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Mexico City, as well as landline calls to Germany, Italy, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Australia, Portugal, Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg only), Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Denmark, and France.

By subscribing to Sky Voice, Sky Cable subscribers are also given a 20-percent discount on their bill. All first-time subscribers may also terminate their subscription within a week at no cost through the 7-Day Money Back Guarantee should they feel they are not satisfied with the service. But that’s unlikely to happen. Why pass up such a good thing?

Arlene Torres of Sky Cable Corporation just had to try the service. She called her sister, who lives Stateside in North Carolina. “The signal was so clear,” Torres reports. “There were no gaps. Her voice sounded so near.” For the first time, she was not rushing through all the things she wanted to say. “In fact, I actually ran out of things to say with still a lot of time to spare,” Torres laughs.

“Connect, communicate, bond with Sky Voice,” Montinola says, “when you need to say it all.”
