Adnelle Valeza would like to date Jim Caviezel
May 3, 2004 | 12:00am
Two days after Adnelle Valeza applied in Berkley International Philippines, she was called by the company and offered whatever salary and title she wanted. Adnelle chose to start as a consultant to this pre-need group. Within two months, she was able to solve the companys billing problem. Now, 28-year-old Adnelle is the VP and chief information officer in charge of 25 people in the IT department.
This pre-need company has over 500 employees. Its strategy of reaching out to sell education plans in shopping malls has earned for it an A+ rating for its ability to meet financial commitments. Berkley has four branches operating seven days a week. Adnelles IT department runs the summary of the transactions of policies.
Valezas dynamic attitude has earned her the respect of the president and senior officers in her group. In a field which is usually dominated by men, Adnelle has gained the confidence to create software applications that coordinate the activities of the companys four branches with the head office. In spite of her seven-days-a-week work schedule, our bachelorette is taking up her Masters of Science in Information Management course in Ateneo.
What is your greatest extravagance?
At least once a month, I dont report to work and just sleep all day.
Which living person do you admire most?
My mother Linda, in particular, for her faith and commitment to the family. Aside from my parents, I have two brothers. My name incidentally is a sort of reversal of my mothers.
What is your passion?
To love love what I do, especially my work, love my profession, vocation, my family, myself, my friends. Love everything.
How do you resolve your conflicts?
My conflicts are sometimes with people I work with, sometimes with friends and even with myself when I am frustrated about what I may have said or done. Then I confront myself: Why did I say or do that?
Where are you most comfortable?
In church. Mostly I go to the church in Greenbelt and at Don Bosco. Whats good about Greenbelt is that they have confession from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily.
What book influenced your life?
The Greatest Miracle in the World by Og Mandino. It tells you how special each person is. I read it when I was in 3rd year high school and didnt yet know what to do. It showed me how to best use my God-given talents for myself and for others.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
When they consciously hurt someone.
What is your current state of mind?
It really is more of a self-disposition. I think I am at peace.
What do you most value in your friends?
Their compassion in whatever they do towards their friends, their family and in their jobs.
If you had the chance to change something in your life, what would that be?
I would engage in more physical activities. For example, at an early age, I should have developed more love and passion for sports.
If you could date any celebrity in the world, who would that be?
Jim Caviezel, the actor who portrayed Jesus Christ in The Passion and who also played the lead role in The Count of Monte Cristo. He is a devout Catholic who does not just accept any role offered to him.
Name a moment that brings back happy memories.
Especially right now when I spend time with my parents and my dad tells me stories about my childhood, it touches a special place in my heart.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Being wherever I am right now happy with what I do, and spending time with my family and friends. I find joy and fulfillment in whatever task that I undertake.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Happiness na lang. I dont think we will find perfect happiness in this world, even if you are spiritually, emotionally and mentally happy, there will always be a lack. Happiness is something you find within yourself.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Looking for what you dont have instead of nourishing what you have.
What is your favorite occupation?
Being a daughter.
What is the quality you most like in a man?
Being gentle.
What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Being strong.
What is your greatest regret?
Not being able to sustain old friendships. I studied in a public school from elementary to high school, and we do not have class reunions.
Who greets you when you get home?
No one. Aside from darkness, it is silence that welcomes me.
Name an embarrassing moment at work?
I feel embarrassed every time I say to the executive committee that something is fixed and then later on find out that it has not been.
