Clubbing and hip-hopping with Julie Calimag

Pretty and determined is Julie Christine Calimag, 22, who through her job as marketing manager of the 25th Club deals with the top management of Ayala Land and Ayala Corporation. The 25th is a dining place on the 25th floor of Tower One beside the Makati Stock Exchange. Senior executives, lawyers and stock brokers frequent this huge club which seats 130 people. As they negotiate in the privacy of this exclusive lounge, raviolis and pastas prepared by the L’Opera group spice the business deals that are cooked here.
To continue to fill up the dining area is Julie’s responsibility. Having earned her Ateneo degree in AB Communications, 5’6" Julie applied herself to learning how to attract senior professionals to her club. Through newsletters, e-mails and membership cards, she is inching her way through to keeping this elegant club profitable.
Our graceful bachelorette grew up in Tarlac City as the youngest of three children. As she eagerly awaits the start of her masters degree course in Development Economics at UP this June, Julie reflects on dancing hip hop, discovering inner peace and telling funny stories.
On what occasion do you lie?
When I feel guilty.
Which living person do you admire most?
My sister, Marie. I wish I had the same courage and discipline she has when facing challenges.
What is your favorite occupation?
Dancing street hip hop ala Janet Jackson and rehearsing for a performance.
What is your most fervent wish?
A love that can last a lifetime.
How do you resolve your conflicts?
My conflicts are within. I emotionally distance myself from the situation. When I analyze who is creating the pressure, I realize it is me.
What book influenced your life?
Discover Inner Peace, a guide to spiritual, well-being. One has to resolve the conflict between oneís inner self and the ego.
Which hero of fiction can you most identify with?
I would like to be Trinity in the movie, Matrix. To learn martial arts, she just downloads the software information, then she can do her flying kicks.
What is your greatest fear?
Death. Death without a trace.

Eleanor Roosevelt’s "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
Which historical character would you like to be?
Oscar Schindler. He was not perfect but I admire him.
If you could date any celebrity in the world, who would that be?
Keanu Reeves. They say he is bisexual but who cares? He has been my crush since A Walk in the Clouds.
What is your current state of mind?
I am focused on spiritual development. After finishing my book on discovering inner peace, I want to take classes on spiritual yoga.
What is your greatest extravagance?
My lifetime gym membership.

Is she comfortable with herself?

His open-mindedness.

When my family is together, we enjoy telling the same funny stories again and again.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I find peace when I am abroad. I stayed for one month in Italy last September. I was so happy to walk.
