National Book Store X National Artist BenCab
MANILA, Philippines - National Book Store has collaborated with acclaimed National Artist BenCab for a line of limited-edition stationery products as part of the yearlong celebration of “BenCab: 50 Creative Years.”
BenCab’s golden year as a professional artist is highlighted by retrospective exhibitions in eight museums and an original musical theater production based on Sabel, the iconic subject of many of his artworks.
BenCab says, “I am glad to be given the opportunity to continue to share my works, and by extension my story, to every Filipino. I hope that my collaboration with National Book Store can motivate people to be more creative.”
Xandra Ramos-Padilla, managing director of National Book Store, says, “We are launching a special limited-edition stationery collection in honor of his contribution to the country’s culture and visual arts. These iconic images can now be enjoyed in stationery items that are perfect Christmas gifts. Through this collection, we hope that we will be able to bring BenCab’s works closer to a wider market and reach out to a new generation of artists and art enthusiasts.”
The BenCab X National Book Store collection features five artworks: “Monumental Figure III,” “Woman with Fan,” “Sabel,” “Mother and Child,” and “Pillow Vendors.” The BenCab collection includes memo pads, pocket notebooks, spiral notebooks, journal, sketch pads, notecard set, memo cube box, and pocket accordions with pad.
The BenCab: Nude Drawings book has also been reissued by Anvil Publishing. BenCab: Nude Drawings is the artist’s first drawing book to feature the human figure, a subject which has continuously fascinated artists all over the world.
The limited-edition BenCab collection and BenCab: Nude Drawings is available at selected National Book Store and Powerbooks branches.
