MANILA, Philippines  — The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is set to perform at the historic Carniege Hall in New York City on June 18, 2016.

The announcement was made through the Facebook account of PPO's French conductor, Olivier Ochanine.

According to the post, it has always been Ochanine's dream to bring the group to perform in "one of the most world renowned, prestigious performance venues in the entire world."

He also mentioned how the financial hardships has made the dream almost impossible, but some "things are meant to happen."

The group will play as part of the group's USA concert tour, titled "MILESTONES: Celebrating the Filipino Spirit."

Olivier Fabrice Ochanine is a French conductor, which was appointed on 2010 to be the music director and principal conductor of the PPO.  Under him, the PPO has made its first recording in over a decade.

He took up a master's degree in orchestral conducting at the University of Southern California in 2001 and obtained his doctorate studies in orchestral conducting at  the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music in 2009.

Aside from conducting for the PPO, he has conducted for several symphony groups like the University of Kentucky Symphony, and the Cincinnati Conservatory Philharmonia and Concert Orchestras.
