Raul Sunico and Rachel Gerodias topbill 6th ‘Harana sa Dapit Hapon’

MANILA, Philippines - The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Tribung Pilipino Foundation present Danny Dolor’s “Harana sa Dapit-Hapon, Ikaanim na Yugto” on Oct. 7, 4:30 p.m. at the Bulwagang Abelardo, CCP.

Internationally renowned and multi-awarded pianist Raul Sunico and the Philippines’ most sought-after soprano and classical singer Rachelle Gerodias topbill the event. Special guest is Korean baritone, Byeong In Park.

“Harana sa Dapit-Hapon, Ikaanim na Yugto” is a series of seven concerts, tertulia style, featuring traditional Filipino music, kundiman, harana, balitaw and danza.  Previous performances have included luminaries such as the eminent violin, virtuoso Gilopez Kabayao with Corazon Kabayao and the family Quartette, violinist Jimmy Tagala Jr., tenor Lemuel dela Cruz, soprano Liza Cabahug, Kabataang Gitarista, Asia’s Queen of Song Pilita Corrales, tenor Miguel Castro, soprano Sweet Sisa Samaniego and her group, and the Kammerchor Manila Choir.

Founded in 1978, the Tribung Pilipino Foundation promotes, preserves and disseminates traditional classical Filipino music, such as harana, balitaw and danza. It also presents musical concerts, concert tributes, concert lectures in schools and colleges to instill in the Filipino youth the deep appreciation and love for traditional Filipino music.

To date, after over 400 concerts here and abroad, the foundation, in association with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, presents “Harana sa Dapit Hapon,” an afternoon tertulia-musicale. It is a series of seven afternoon musicale concerts intended for senior citizens and students.
