MiG Ayesa set to star in ‘The Bridges of Madison County’ musical
MANILA, Philippines - Rockstar, Broadway and West End musical theater performer MiG Ayesa returns to the Philippine stage as Robert Kincaid in the first international production of the Tony Award-winning musical The Bridges of Madison County, which runs from Nov. 20 to Dec. 6 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.
Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group (ATEG) presents The Bridges of Madison County, which tells the story of Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson and her life-changing, four-day whirlwind romance with traveling photographer Robert Kincaid. It’s an unforgettable story of two people caught between decision and desire, as a chance encounter becomes a second chance at so much more.
This brand new production features gorgeous, soulful music by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years) that draws upon the rich textures of Americana and folk and the sweeping, expressive balladry of classic Broadway. The Daily News hails it as “one of Broadway’s best scores in the last decade.”
Directed by Bobby Garcia, who recently directed the acclaimed Asian Tour of Saturday Night Fever, The Bridges of Madison County also stars West End star Joanna Ampil as Francesca Johnson.
Garcia says, “I am thrilled to be directing The Bridges of Madison County. It is the stuff dreams are made of. The show has one of the finest, most romantic musical theater scores I have ever come across. I am equally thrilled that MiG Ayesa will be joining us once again in a very different role. He is the perfect Robert Kincaid, and I can’t wait to get in the rehearsal room and start creating the show with him.”
MiG’s musical theater resumé includes lead roles in the Australian, West End and Broadway productions of Buddy, We Will Rock You, Thriller Live!, Rent, Burn the Floor, Annie and Rock of Ages. He also performed the role of Stacee Jaxx in three hit Manila runs of Rock of Ages. He is currently writing new music for an upcoming album.
The Bridges of Madison County, which will also soon be embarking on a US Tour, will definitely be the most romantic musical to come to Manila this year.
