Filfest ends its 2014 season with ‘Classic goes Rock’

MANILA, Philippines - Violinist Joseph Brian Cimafranca peforms in another classical crossover concert titled “Classic goes Rock” on Nov. 8, 8 p.m., at the Insular Auditorium, Insular Life Bldg., Filinvest, Alabang.

Cimafranca — who hails from Toledo City, Cebu — has been a consistent prizewinner at the solo violin category of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA). He has also performed as a soloist and orchestra player in Taiwan, Sydney and Thailand. He has participated in the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble (SAYOWE) from 2005 to 2008 and was appointed concertmaster of this orchestra.

Cimafranca will be assisted by the six-member band under the direction of Ria Villena.  Program includes Carnival in Venice, Tico Tico, the fiendish Czardas, Clementi Sonatina, The 5th and a special pinoy OPM medley, to name a few.

The Filfest Cultural Foundation 2014 season is made possible through special partnership with Insular Life as main benefactor, and with the support of San Miguel Corporation, Vivere Hotel, Conti’s and Rustan’s.
