Bradley Bascon opens ‘MCOF Young Artists’ Series 2014’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino-American violinist Bradley Bascon opens the “MCOF Young Artists’ Series 2014” tonight, 7 p.m., at the Ayala Museum.

Bascon started playing at a young age of 4, and has won in the competitions organized by the Music Teachers’ Associations of California. As a member of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, he has participated in the International Music Festival in Schloss Shleissheim Castle in German, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg Austria and at the Teatro Verdi and Norcia in Italy.

As a member of the Irvine Classical Players Orchestra (ICPO), he was the featured soloist in the ICPO’s tour to Spain and Portugal, Walt Disney Concert Hall performance and at the Hyde Park concert in London during the London Olympics. Most recently, he was a featured soloist in US first lady Michelle Obama’s fundraising concert titled “Michelle’s Place Breast Cancer Foundation.” He is currently studying with Theresa Woo in California. He will be the sole Philippine representative in the Beijing Violin Competition in August.

For his Philippine debut, Bascon will perform the works of Wieniawski, Kreisler, Saint-Saens, Mozart and Monti. He will be assisted at the piano by a Juilliard graduate, pianist Rudolf Golez.

The “MCOF Young Artists’ Series” is one of Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation (MCOF)’s core programs. The MCOF, established in 1985, has a mission of promoting classical music. Every year the MCO Foundation selects four of the most promising young artists, who are given the endorsement, performance opportunities, and exposure to a wider public. Oftentimes, the recitals of young artists under the MCOF aegis have become the artists’ official debut as performers.

For tickets, call Ticketworld at 891-9999, the MCO Foundation at 750-0768 or 0920-9540053 or CAEO at 762-7164 or 0918-3473027.
