Gallery News: ‘Journey into Space: The Visual Odyssey of Fernando Zobel’ at Ayala Museum

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Museum presents “Journey into Space: The Visual Odyssey of Fernando Zobel,” which opens tomorrow at the Third Floor Galleries of Ayala Museum, Makati City. The show runs until Oct. 5.

The exhibit serves as a visual walkthrough of Fernando Zobel’s transition from a more figurative style to his signature meditative, harmonious abstract works, composed primarily of calligraphic lines, gradients and even the positive use of space.

Driven to Abstraction’ at Renaissance Gallery

In celebration of its 11th anniversary, Renaissance Gallery presents “Driven to Abstraction,” which is on view at SM Art Center, the Artwalk, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.

The show features the works of Max Balatbat, Bien Benitez, Benji Bisaya, Marco Coching, Arley Craig, Jane Ebarle, Fitz Herrera, Josef Laureano, Cid Reyes, Aner Sebastian, Sio Montera, and Valen Valerio. The highlights are the works of master abstractionists National Artists Hernando R. Ocampo, Jose Joya and Arturo Luz, as well as Malang, Romulo Olazo, Gus Albor, Lao Lianben, and Nestor Vinluan.

‘How Did Architects Respond Immediately After 3/11?’ at the UP Asian Center

The Japan Foundation, Manila — in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the UP Asian Center — holds the traveling exhibition “How Did Architects Respond Immediately After 3/11? (The Great East Japan Earthquake)” which is on view until July 14.

Through visual and text panels, as well as models and video presentations, the show highlights the numerous projects dedicated to the rebuilding of both structures and communities devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
