‘Haiyan International Fundraising Art Exhibition’ at Galleria Duemila

International and Filipino artists hold “Haiyan International Fundraising Art Exhibition,” a benefit exhibit to support typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, which is slated from April 6 to 26 at Galleria Duemila, 210 Loring St., Pasay City.

The show was conceptualized by Singapore National Artist Goh Beng Kwan, Florence Cinco of the Philippines, and other artists from the ASEAN Region.

Participating artists include Ilseon Ryu (Korea), president and art director of Ecorea Biennale Committee and president of the Asia-Pacific Institute of Art & Research; Grete Marstein (Norway), president of the Norwegian Artists Copyright Association and International vice president of the International Association of Art (UNESCO); Trinh Tuan (Vietnam); Daniel Houle Jayd (Canada); Wattanachot Tungateja (Thailand); and Filipino artists Pandy Aviado, Max Balatbat, Buddy Ching, Florence Cinco, Ferdinand Doctolero, Lorna Fernandez, Allain Hablo, James Haresco, Raul Isidro, Nap Jamir, Edwin Jumalon, Nikulas Lebajo, Raul Lebajo, Red Mansueto, Poch Naval, Maxine Syjuco, and PG Zoluaga.

Proceeds will go to MyShelter Foundation whose Liter of Light program provides low-cost, simple solar lighting to disaster-stricken areas, creating local jobs, teaching green skills and empowering local communities.

Three shows at Art Informal

Art Informal presents three simultaneous shows — “My Garden” by Tessy Pettyjohn, “Clay Vibrance” by Alvin Tan Teck Heng, and a group show “Heatwave” — which are on view until April 7 at Art Informal, 277 Connecticut St., Greenhills East.

In “My Garden,” Pettyjohn indulges the viewer in an overwhelming collection of flora that resembles forms taken from corals and cacti.

In “Clay Vibrance,” Tan Teck Heng portrays new energy and vibrations that he experienced while making pottery here in the Philippines.

“Heatwave” features the works of Australian and Southeast Asian artists namely, Maria Chatzinikolaki, Bathma Kaew-ngok, Hellen Fuller, Wayne Mcara, Ulrica Trulsson, Rita Badilla-Gudiño, Pablo Capati III, Pete Cortes, Joey de Castro, Joe Geraldo, Hadrian Mendoza, Jon Pettyjohn, Benji Ranada, and Mark Valenzuela. The show serves to articulate an element of commonality among difference.
