MANILA, Philippines - Omi Reyes presents his own take on the stylistic genre called Steampunk featuring the recognizably retro-futuristic style of the British Victorian era of the 19th century in “OMIchanics,” which opens on July 31 at The Crucible Gallery, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.

By mixing metallic elements with hand-wrought wood pices and shapes, Omi inspires viewers to realize that seemingly opposite elements when fused together can synergize, leading to increased efficiency, liberation and infinite possibilities.

‘50 Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking’ at Met Museum

As part of the ongoing 2013 Korea Festival in ASEAN, the Korea Foundation, in cooperation with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea (NMCA Korea) and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, will launch  “Fifty Years of Korean Contemporary Printmaking” on Aug. 1. It will be open to the public on Aug. 24 at the Met Museum, Roxas Blvd., Manila.

The show, which previously had its run in Indonesia, consists of 81 works sourced from NMCA collection of prints from the second half of the 20 th century in an effort to introduce the history of Korean printmaking tradition to Filipinos.

NMCA curator Hwang Yoon-jung will deliver a curator’s talk at 3 p.m., while NMCA director Chung Hyung-min will hold a special lecture at the Met Museum.
