Gallery News: Arturo Luz at Manila Contemporary

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Arturo Luz juxtaposes 40 new paintings and 20 never before seen vintage photographs in “Arturo Luz: Recent Paintings and Vintage Photographs,” which opens on April 10 at Manila Contemporary, Whitespace, 2314 Don Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Brgy. Magallanes, Makati City. The show runs until May 12.

The rare still-life photographs taken in 1993 reveal Luz’s keen interest in photography and admiration of Japanese design. Photographed using a Hasselblad camera, each black and white image features arrangements of Japanese kiri boxes (storage boxes for ceramics made out of kiri wood) and seashells from Luz’s personal collection of objects.

The show is in collaboration with The Crucible Gallery.
