Toti Cerda at 371 Art Space

MANILA, Philippines - Toti Cerda scrutinizes Charlie Chaplin in “Life Without Charlie,” which opens tomorrow at 371 Art Space, P. Guevarra St., San Juan, Metro Manila. The show runs until Sept. 15.

Cerda’s works depict a world without laughter, a world where fun is silenced.

Four shows at West Gallery

Andres Barrioquinto, Iya Consorio, Dexter Sy, and Dave Lock hold simultaneous shows — “Black Days,” “Light Curse,” “If Things Were Perfect,” and “The Life Cycle of Penis-Eaters” — which are on view until Sept. 17 at West Gallery, second floor, Mary Santos Artcade, 48 West Ave., QC.

In “Black Days,” Barrioquinto abandons the aesthetic rules of proportions and collective study, and tries to present a disfigurement of an ugly face — something that was never pleasant or beautiful.

Consorio’s drawings are enclosed in a box that reflects an inner light, giving the drawings a lantern-like effect in “Light Curse.”

Sy focuses on the oddity of things in “If Things Were Perfect,” while Lock depicts beauty and the imperfect animals trapped in its own kitchen of doom.
