Alliance Française holds 3rd artist in residency grants program
MANILA, Philippines - Alliance Française launches its third artist residency grants program (AFM-PARP), which offers Filipino artists the possibility of a structured visit to France for a period of two to three months.
The residency will be hosted by a French non-profit cultural organization, artist residence, or artist-run initiative. It is conceived as a professional opportunity rather than a project-based grant. It aims to enrich the experience of Filipino artists by affording them the opportunity for contact with the contemporary art scene in France.
The AFM-PARP is open to all Filipino visual artists: painters, sculptors, multi-media artists, and photographers. One residency is offered annually. The AFM-PARP provides a financial grant to cover costs of travel and living expenses. The grantee may also avail of a free French language course at AFM.
The AFM-PARP application period is from July to October 2012. Deadline for submission of applications is Oct. 31.
The application form/brochure is available at Alliance Française de Manille, 209 Nicanor Garcia St., Bel-Air II, Makati City. It can also be downloaded from www.alliance.ph.
The recipient of the first AFM-PARP grant was printmaker Ma. Victoria “Ambie” Abaño in 2011 and the second recipient, sculptor Ronald Jaramillo Hilario, will be leaving for France this year for his residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.
