Kiri Dalena, Ian Quirante and Pablo Biglang-awa Jr. at Finale

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pablo Biglang-awa Jr., Kiri Dalena and Ian Quirante reflect on the aftermath of tragedies, both natural and man-made, through separate solo shows at Finale Art File starting June 7.

On view at the Tall Gallery is artist and filmmaker Kiri Dalena’s latest solo show entitled “Washed Out”: an installation of what literally remained after typhoon Sendong devastated Iligan City in December 2011. Revisiting her roots in Iligan, Dalena creates an installation work using video documentation of the devastated landscape and found logs, washed out as debris during the storm. Repositioning physical and visual evidence of the tragedy within the gallery space, Dalena creates haunting commentaries through salvaging these fragments of memory.

The exhibit is curated by Clarissa Chikiamco. An artist’s talk open to the public will be held at the gallery on June 16, 5:30 p.m.

Inside Finale’s Video Room, another filmmaker and artist Pablo Biglang-awa Jr. stages a solo show titled “Bus Siege Revisit.” The exhibit features a video time map installation of the August 23, 2010 hostage-taking incident in front of the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila.

At the Upstairs Gallery, Ian Quirante mounts “Play,” a collection of new mixed media paintings and sculptures.

The three exhibits will be on view at Finale Art File until June 30. The shows open on June 7, 6 p.m.

Finale Art File is at Warehouse 17, La Fuerza, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. For inquiries, call 813-2310, 812-5034, 810-4071 (fax), e-mail finaleartfileinc@gmail.com, or visit www.finaleartfile.com.
