'Rockin' the Roots' at Music Museum

-

MANILA, Philippines - Creatvfx recently staged ‘Rockin’ the Roots’ at the Museum, featuring some of the country’s top Pinoy Rock icons.

The concert kicked off with front acts Definitely Knot, Bandwidth and ’80s iconic Pinoy punk band Betrayed. Resty Fabunan of Maria Cafra then greeted everyone with Kamusta, Mga Kaibigan? and Jimi Hendrix tunes such as Purple Haze and Little Wing. Gary Perez of Sampaguita sang Tao and I’m Going Home (Ten Years After), and made his guitar whine and cry.  At the same time, the crowd got a treat of Eggpie De Castro’s pulsating bass lines and antics.

Folk-rock heroine Lolita Carbon belted her lungs out with Usok and Janis Joplin’s Mercedes Benz, while Caren Mangaran of General Luna sang I Just Wanna Make Love to You.

Next generation Pinoy Rock icon Jett Pangan sang Every Breath You Take and Message In A Bottle. Hotdog main man Rene Garcia played A Day In The Life and jammed Bandang Pinoy, an ode to all Pinoy bands.

Finally, the storm signal hit number four with Joey “Pepe” Smith, performing Satisfaction and Jumping Jack Flash. Of course, he also did a couple of Juan De La Cruz anthems, Beep Beep and Balong Malalim.

The musicians concluded the show with a rousing finale.
