Chamber music at Pundaquit Fest 19

MANILA, Philippines - It will be another some enchanting evening of chamber music with the 19th season of the Pundaquit Festival featuring world-renowned violinist Coke Bolipata and Pundaquit Virtuosi on Feb. 18, 6 p.m. at Casa San Miguel (Creative Alternatives for Social Action in San Miguel) in San Antonio, Zambales.

Titled “Yamang Dagat: Ugat ng Lahi,” the concert which is also part of the National Arts Month, will feature well-loved classical compositions of Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Brahms, Mendelssohn, and Strauss.

Regarded as the country’s longest-running community-based arts and culture event, the Pundaquit Festival aims to bring out the best homegrown musical and artistic talents to become world-class artists.

Founded in 1993, the fest aims to develop local young talents through residency programs for visiting artists, performances, workshops and exhibits.

Resident artists mentor some 120 local talents yearlong in music, visual arts, film, and creative writing in preparation for performances, exhibits, and academic pursuits.

The performance series will be at the newly-renovated Ramon L. Corpus Hall of Casa San Miguel, regarded as one of the cultural centers in Central Luzon.

Also up for viewing at the Casa San Miguel Heritage Museum is the “Treasures of A Hidden Zambales Heritage” exhibition which showcases the Roslynn Magsaysay collection of Chinese tradeware from Zambales.

The rare archaeological exhibit attests to the rich pre-colonial heritage of the province, being in a vital trading and shipping route in Asia. 

Pundaquit Festival Season 19 is supported by Starbucks Coffee, D & L Industries, Sony, Lyric Pianos, DZFE-FM The Master’s Touch and The Philippine STAR.
