Victorio Edades at CCP
MANILA, Philippines - The Edades Projects — with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Office of Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino, the Philippine STAR, and Universal Harvester Inc. — presents “Edades: From Freedom to Fruition,” an exhibit on the life and works of National Artist Victorio Edades as painter, architect and educator, which opens on Dec. 2 at the Main Gallery of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Roxas Blvd., Pasay City. The show runs until Jan. 7, 2012.
The show features some 40 works (sourced from government and private collections from Manila to Davao and Pangasinan) made by Edades between 1926 to 1981. It also includes the works of Edades’ former students in UST such as National Artists Ang Kiukok and Jerry Elizalde Navarro; Antonio Austria, Manuel Baldemor, Norma Belleza, Charito Bitanga, Danny Dalena, Angelito Antonio, Jaime de Guzman, Veronica Lim, Ramon Orlina, Leon Pacunayen, and Rhoda Recto.
“Edades: From Freedom to Fruition” is part of a series of events and activities called Edades Projects in honor of the country Father of Modern Art, which was launched last July 29.

Nunelucio Alvarado at Galerie Anna
Nunelucio Alvarado showcases a new set of mural-sized works that focuses on peasants of the earth or what he refers to as the new “angel people” in “Minoro: Recent Works by Nunelucio Alvarado,” which is on view at Galerie Anna, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.
“Minoro” is a Hiligaynon term that refers to a group of people living together; a community of the rural, rustic type found amid the sugar haciendas that dot the landscape of his hometown Negros.
