Global Art Awards winners
MANILA, Philippines - Three highly creative and talented students took home the grand prize in their categories in the recent Global Art National Competition.
Five-year-old Kaithlyn Chua won in Category A for four to six year olds while Nico Gabriel Santiago, 9, bagged the grand prize in Category B for seven to nine year olds. Anne Kristine Galio won in the 10- to 12-year-old Category C group.
This is the third year that Global Art Philippines has held its unique art competition. More than 200 students competed this year.
Participants were challenged to come up with their very own interpretations of the theme “My World, My Future.” They got pre-drawn images, which they then transformed into exceptional works of art. They used oil pastels, colored pencils, poster color, and, of course, the skills they learned in Global Art to create their masterpieces.
One of the judges is Global Art co-founder and master trainor Ajin Thong of Malaysia. Sponsors are Maya Baking Mixes and Faber Castell, which provided prizes for the fun games.
Proud parents were on hand to give support to their children including celebrity mom Christine Jacob Sandejas who was present to cheer on her three children who joined the art competition.
This year’s winners received trophies and got the chance to represent the Philippines in the coming Global Art International Art Competition to be held in Vietnam.
Global Art follows a syllabus-based curriculum that allows students to progress on their own. Children as young as four years old can enroll. There are also classes for teenagers and adults. More than the art skills that they learn, students develop keen observation skills, patience and discipline. They acquire improved concentration and longer attention span.
Global Art has centers in 18 countries worldwide. There are now seven Metro Manila satellites and one in Davao.
