Philippine Human Development Report wins outstanding book award
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Human Development Report (PHDR) 2008/2009 on Institutions, Politics and Human Development won the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Outstanding Book Award. The NAST is the country’s premier recognition and advisory body on science and technology. The PHDR was prepared by the Human Development Network (HDN), an independent team of experts who explore major issues of national concern, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The report received financial support from the New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID). The NAST awards are given annually for books and/or monographs published in the Philippines or elsewhere by Filipino authors or co-authors within five years preceding the award. The PHDR Report won for social sciences.
