IUTA holds 1st Int'l Theater Festival in Manila

-

MANILA, Philippines - The International University Theatre Association (IUTA)-Philippine Center, under executive director Arsenio “Nick” J. Lizaso, will hold the first IUTA International Theater Festival/Conference/Workshop from July 16 to 24 at Miriam College in QC.

Around 20 IUTA Executive Committee members from around the world and other foreign university theater experts will exchange ideas and share knowledge and practices in theater pedagogy with local faculty counterparts from our country’s 17 regions as well as from ASEAN countries. Theme of the event will be “Strengthening University Theatre: Cultural Traditions Enriching Contemporary Theater.”

Established in Université de Liège (Belgium) in 1994 to develop and promote recognized post-secondary activity in theatre training, creation, research and theoretical and practical research, throughout the world, at the level of university or higher studies, the IUTA is a unique forum where teachers, practitioners, creators, scholars and theorists can share discoveries and discuss common concerns

Aware of the role theater plays in fostering dialogue and understanding between cultures, the association promotes and exchanges collaboration between university theaters as well as contacts with amateur and professional theaters.
