Preacher Rodel Buban spreads the good news through art
MANILA, Philippines - Rodel Buban a 31-year-old gifted artist, worship leader, and pastor at the River of God Church uses his heaven-sent talents to illustrate God’s loving message to him by his works of art and his words of inspiration.
Buban presents his latests paintings in “Mind Set,” on view until Oct. 2 at the Art Hall of The Enterprise in Makati City.
“God is my inspiration. He created everything – the skies, nature, landscape. These are all his creations. Parang, ang sarap i-paint.” Through his paintings, he endeavours to reach out to others and send the message of hope.
Like in the movies, Rodel’s love story is a tear-jerker filled with the emotional roller coaster drama only doomed lovers experience.
He met his wife, Grace, a tall, porcelain-skinned, and well-off Chinese mestiza in an acting workshop where the poor boy from Novaliches teaches. As the cliché goes, opposites attract. Once, he even brought her with his best friend to their shanty in Novaliches so she can see for herself his poor boy’s origins. She saw past the economic stature and all his perceived shortcomings (Rodel would jokingly say, “short” kasi ako). She saw him for the man that he is and the man that he would become.
Now celebrating their eighth anniversary, they inspire other couples in crisis with their enduring love story during their counseling sessions.
Connected to his flock with sun’s 24/7
Because of his many endeavours (he is also a composer, an actor, and a mentor to aspiring musicians), Rodel relies on Sun to keep him connected to everyone involved in his various professions and undertakings. He is thankful that Sun Cellular affords him ease of connectivity without the escalating costs. “I got Group Plan 999 for my family five years ago and since then, it hasn’t failed me in contacting people I meet with for whatever purpose,” he says.
Rodel is a wise spender. “I use voice calls a lot, that is why Sun Cellular is very helpful to me. It gives me a lot of savings,” he shares, adding that call charges within and outside the Sun network are much more affordable. “Imagine, at P150 per month, one can already use their Text Unlimited services. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and acquaintances.”
Rodel sees himself growing with the network and visualizes himself and his family traveling here and abroad with Sun as their reliable means of communication. “I already have invitations abroad as a worship leader and as an artist.” And like Sun Cellular that’s making its presence felt more strongly both here and in other countries, Rodel also hopes to make his God-inspired paintings and music known worldwide.
