Arron Villaflor stars in 'Ibong Adarna'
MANILA, Philippines - Arron Villaflor stars in Gantimpala Theater’s Ibong Adarna as Don Juan, the youngest and most beloved son of Haring Fernando.
Under the direction of Roobak Valle, Ibong Adarna is a play about the three brothers — Don Pedro, Don Diego, and Don Juan — and their quest to find the legendary bird of Piedras Platas, whose songs are the only cure for their father’s sickness.
Ibong Adarna also stars Roeder Camañag (Don Pedro with Jerald Napoles, alternate), Arkin da Silva (Don Diego), Anna Deroca (Maraya/Maria Blanca), Joey de Guzman (Ermitanyo), Billy Parjan (Haring Fernando), Pamela Hundana (Reyna Valeriana), Abel Napuran (Manggagamot), Paul Sy (Orlando) and Matthew Manalaysay (Ibong Adarna). Musicians are Chris Cervantes, Maui, Smith Bitoon and Percival Montelibano.
The production also features Muslim cultural community dances originally choreographed by the late National Artist for Dance Ramon Obusan.
Assisting production designer Roobak Valle recreate the kingdom of Berbanya are lights designer Andy Villarreal, choreographer Raul Nepomuceno Jr., production manager Charyl Chan- de Guzman, stage manager Joey David, photographer Jojit Lorenzo, and artistic director Tony Espejo.
Performances are slated from Oct. 2,3,4, 9, 10 and 11, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the AFP Theater in Quezon City; and Oct. 16, 17, and 18, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at SM South Mall Cinema 3, in Las Piñas City.
