Piano prodigy Michael Cu debuts with MMCO

MANILA, Philippines -The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), in cooperation with Pacific Paint (Boysen), stages “A Philippine Orchestral Debut” featuring pianist Michael Lao Cu on Aug. 22, 7 p.m., at Philamlife Auditorium along UN Ave, Manila. Performing with Cu is the Metro Manila Community Orchestra led by Professor Josefino Chino. The concert is for the benefit of Got Heart Foundation, which is tasked with improving the lives of marginalized communities.

The 21-year-old musician in his orchestraL debut will perform the grand Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini by Rachmaninoff and Piano Conceerto in G by Ravel. Mentored by world-renowned pianist and pedagogue Reynaldo Reyes, Michael has given recitals here and abroad, and garnered top prizes in local and international competitions in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. He graduated recently with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Towson University in Maryland, USA with summa cum laude honors.
