JIV Manila presents 'Soul Seasons' at Mag:net Bonifacio High Street
MANILA, Philippines - JIV Manila art group presents “Soul Seasons,” a collection of artworks that evoke a myriad of moods and color shifts occurring in the soul, tested by circumstances and perfected by time, which is on view at Mag:net Café Gallery, second floor, B-3 Bonifacio High Street, Taguig.
Seasons are likened to changes that occur every day, and this exhibit shows the many ways by which soul expressions may change — in cycles, through spirals, ups and downs, in light and darkness.
Juno Parungao in her “Soul Gems” shows the intense moods and characterization of prominent gemstones, which have been revered for their spiritual significance. She used semi-precious stones, glass beads and organic gems with acrylic.
Jeremy Malcampo’s paintings depict the taste of food, wine, and cheese as he fuses the forms and texture of the canvas into delightful seasonings of the senses.
Alain Austria dabbles in the “wet season of the soul” with reference to the Jungian parlance that water is associated with melancholia preceding a new life.
Lito Casaje’s bizarre fetish for the avant-garde in cinema, theater, and literature attempts to contextualize these art forms into the hologram of the visual. His “Anarchy of the Soul” is a jagged, twisted, wicked pronouncement on anti-realism as conjured by the surreal magic of the paintbrush and palette.
