'Creature Creation' workshop for kids at Lopez Museum

-

MANILA, Philippines - When kids look at their pets and read about creatures in mythology, they will see that animals and mythical creatures are either the main characters or sidekicks in fiction, as well as in real life stories.

The Lopez Memorial Museum will hold a “Creature Creation” drawing workshop on May 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Students, ages 6 to 12, will learn to draw their favorite animals, animals in mythology and combinations of such animals. The workshop is to be facilitated by Joanah Tino-Calingo. The workshop fee of P2,500 includes materials.

Tinio-Calingo is a UP College of Fine Arts graduate who has done workshops for the Lopez Memorial Museum, Japan Foundation, St. Benilde among others. She is a writer-illustrator of comic books and strips such as D-Koi Junkie and some animation films, and was a finalist in the First Philippine Graphic and Fiction Awards for her comic version of Blind Beauty. Her films have also received awards from the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The Lopez Memorial Museum is at the ground floor, Benpres Building, Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Pasig. Museum days and hours are Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Sundays and holidays. Call 6312417 or e-mail admin@lopez-museum.org for more information.
