CCP holds art forum in Makiling

MANILA, Philippines - As part of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) 40th Anniversary celebration, an Arts Forum will be conducted from May 8 to 10 at the National Arts Center in Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna. 

The three-day arts forum aims to gather regional artists, cultural workers and other stakeholders to discuss, validate and exchange ideas and strategies for the CCP’s Arts for Transformation program. The event will also tackle and consult with the regional creative sector the CCP’s new thrust, further determine the needs and gaps for CCP programs and projects, as well as to provide the current status of the Philippine Creative Industry Mapping.

Among the speakers and panelists include singer Grace Nono, violinist Coke Bolipata, Tanghalang Pilipino’s Fernando Josef, Steve Fernandez of Integrated Performing Arts Guild, Quey Reyes of the Philippine Educational Theater Association, Armand Sta. Ana of Bulacan, Bohol’s Gardy Labad, Juan Miguel Escudero, Rosalie Zerrudo, Capiz’s Al Tesoro, Diary Sargado of Iloilo, Eduardo Morato (former dean of the Asian Institute of Management) and other regional partners. Aside from interaction and panel discussions, the participants will have a cultural tour in various Creative Industry places in Laguna and Batangas. 

Another cultural event is the performance tour of Tanghalang Pilipino’s presentation entitled Pragres, a musical adaptation of “Progress,” based on a short story by National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose. The tour, which is in connection with CCP’s 40th anniversary, will commence on May 8 at the National Arts Center in Mt. Makiling, Laguna.
