Danny Dolor presents 'Harana 2009' in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines - In commemoration of its 30th anniversary and in celebration of National Arts Month, the Tribung Pilipino Cultural Foundation headed by its chairman Danny Dolor recently presented “Harana 2009,” a concert lecture, at the Jaime Cardinal Sin Auditorium of St. Joseph School in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila.

This is the first in a series of 12 concerts for the year.

In attendance were students of St. Joseph School and representatives of the Lakandula High School, T. Paez Integrated High School, Raja Sulayman High School, Calderon Integrated High School, Osmeña High School, and J.P. Laurel High School.

Featured artists were Gloria Dizon Coronel, Liza Cabahug, and Dondi Ong with assisting artist Julie Mendoza.

The Daughters of Mary Immaculate International Vicariate of the Holy Spirit, Cause of Our Joy Gagalangin Circle, Lady of Divine Grace Circle, and Queen of Peace Maniguid Circle coordinated the event.

The concert-lecture is a continuing program of the Tribung Pilipino Foundation Inc., as part of its objective to promote and preserve traditional Filipino music kundiman, harana, balitaw, and danza among the youth.

The Tribung Pilipino Foundation Inc., in the past 30 years, has visited educational institutions in Manila and in the provinces such as Far Eastern University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, UP Los Baños, Tayabas Western Academy, Lucban and Tayabas High School in Quezon Province; National University, Philippine National University, Ateneo University, De La Salle University, and Lipa City National High School.
