Roberto Chabet at Paseo Megamall

MANILA, Philippines - Roberto Chabet, the country’s foremost conceptual artist, mounts “Waiting in Line to see the Trinity Site,” which opens tomorrow, 6 p.m., at Paseo Gallery, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.

The exhibition is a virtual alchemical synthesis of myth, memory, history and the every day from which people can intuit the sublime. Trinity is the name Oppenheimer christened the clandestine site where the atom was split, heralding the nuclear age. The show is on view until April 13.

Southern Artists Atelier at The Crucible

The artists from the Southern Artists Atelier present their latest works in a show that opens tomorrow, 6 p.m., at The Crucible Gallery, fourth floor, SM Megamall A, Mandaluyong City.

The group is composed of Ephraim Samson, Raul Isidro, Edgar Doctor, Fil dela Cruz, Al Perez and Rudolf Gonzalez.

‘Figuring the Times’ at Finale Art File

On view at the Finale Art File until April 3 is “Figuring the Times: Philippine Paintings 1996-2009,” which features works by Elmer Borlongan, Annie Cabigting, Charlie Co, Louie Cordero, Marina Cruz, Kiko Escora, Kawayan de Guia, Alfredo Esquillo Jr., Nona Garcia, Emmanuel Garibay, Geraldine Javier, Mark Justiniani, Robert Langenegger, Jose Legaspi, Maya Muñoz, Manuel Ocampo, Jose Santos III, Yasmin Sison, Rodel Tapaya, Wire Tuazon, Ronald Ventura and Liv Vinluan.

The exhibit, a selection of works collected by Paulino Que, features. By doing the selection himself, Que is offering us an important and unique point of view, a sense of direction of where the contemporary art is headed.

Raymond Legaspi at ArtistSpace

Raymond Legaspi presents a new take on social realism by sharing a clownish and comical — though never cartoonish — observation of Philippine society in “The Circus Show,” which opens on March 25 at ArtistSpace, second floor, Glass Wing, Ayala Museum, Makati City. The show is on view until April 7.

‘Pamanang Sining’ at Galeria de las Islas

On view until April 5 at Galeria de las Islas is “Pamanang Sining,” which features visual narratives portraying Filipino culture created by Alex de Jesus, Jerick Altea, Fernando Antimano, Katrina Bisda, Salvador Banares, Marco Banares, Jerki Duran, Honesto Guirela, Christopher Galasinao, Gerry Jorge, Ryan Nagun, Raffy Napay, Jayzel Pira, Julmard Vicente, Ralph Semilla and Dave Tan.

Simultaneous art shows at Pinto Art Gallery

The Silangan Foundation for the Arts, Culture and Ecology presents simultaneous art exhibitions, which open on March 29 at Pinto Art Gallery. The shows are on view until April 29.

Pinto’s Main Gallery features Leeroy New, Tatong Torres, and Costantino Zicarelli’s recent works.
