PETA stages a psycho-emotional drama
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) stages Tony Perez’ Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid Ng Disyembre? until March 15 at the PETA-Phinma Theater in QC.
The play is a literary take on schizophrenia, a psycho-emotional drama about the human condition and the divine.
In this play, all elements of the production combine to unfold the story, with each component contributing to the entirety.
The set provides a cerebral image that illustrates the imbalance characterized by schizophrenia. It is skewed, irregular, twisted and obscure. Designed by National Artist, Salvador Bernal, the set becomes a fitting background that enhances the visual impression of the play.
Lighting design is by Shoko Matsumoto and Ian Torqueza. Jed Balsamo’s wild and melodic compositions cradle (or rock) each scene, while Nonon Padilla adds witty and funny antics to his psychologically driven narrative to loosen the play’s complexity.
