MANILA, Philippines — The time to indulge in the light and freedom of summer has arrived. The season of sun brings a lot of reasons to go for adventures far and wide and enjoy the heat with nothing but the sweet summer in mind.

Popular footwear brand, FitFlop, recently launched its Spring/Summer 2015 collection in a three-day regional event at Amorita Resort, a tranquil seaside retreat in the beautiful island of Panglao, Bohol. Tucked amid the scenic end of Alona Beach, the high-end beach resort served as the perfect location for the event that saw nothing less than luxurious and relaxing experience for its guests to embody the key qualities of the collection — comfort, chicness, luxury, empowerment and style.

FitFlop, exclusively distributed by the Primer Group of Companies in the Philippines, conceived a revolutionary range of footwear with a series of capsule collections that took inspiration from all things summer. Highlighted at the launch are the French Riviera-inspired Indigo; Lustre, which focuses on bohemian sensibilities and understated elegance; Garigue and Terra Nova that are perfect for outdoors.

Aside from having a wide range of stylish and tasteful designs that can easily fit one’s unique sense of style, the footwear brand features a triple-density Microwobbleboard midsole technology. This technology snuggles one’s feet in all the right places by diffusing underfoot pressure and absorbing shock by instantly increasing the contact area of the foot to the midsole that creates that extraordinary comfy feeling.

During the launch’s pocket events hosted by Stephanie Henares, models took the stage to showcase how versatile each FitFlop style is by matching the footwear to clothes designed by Primer Group creative director Rhett Eala.

Jill Coglan, FitFlop Asia global sourcing and product development director, said, “This collection has a slightly muted color palettes this season. Brights are slightly more muted and there are a lot of metallic coming through. The designs can take us through the season and you can see the difference in the colors and the materials where we can take it from spring to high summer.”

According to Coglan, the capsule collections to watch out for are Skinny, Surfa, Banda and Super Jelly.

Skinny is inspired by the ‘50s American fun, preppy feel with a strong Nautical sense in style. It has a mix of denim and Italian canvas material that comes through with metallic and neutral tones. The use of Italian canvas makes these lovelies look more premium.

A bit dressier and relevant in the evening, Banda uses rich Italian materials that is evident in the footwear’s very delicate details. With strong hints of sophistication, one can wear these footwear from day to night.

With a new style and a bit younger appeal, the Surfa sandals have wide, foot-hugging webbing straps and a soft fabric toe-post with Microwobbleboard midsoles, making them the ultimate in relaxed cool. The soft stripes and webbing details bring through preppy colors perfect for a relaxed, casual look.

FitFlop’s new product is the all-rubber, beach-friendly Super Jelly. Its Microwobbleboard midsole diffuses pressure on the feet, which is good if one is going to walk a lot. This author, a FitFlop virgin, used the Super Jelly to climb more than 250 steps of the Chocolate Hills viewing deck and to trek the Tarsier Conservation Area. The Super Jelly surprisingly felt extremely comfortable even after all the walking we did. Also, Super Jelly is one of the FitFlop styles that have sizes up to 10”.
