MANILA, Philippines - One of the best gifts one can give oneself is a pampering treat.
CHI, The Spa at EDSA Shangri-La, Manila offers “Secrets of the Sea,” the newest and only treatment in the country using finely ground golden South Sea pearls as a body scrub and wrap.
The South Sea pearls, considered the ultimate luxury in cultured pearls, are freshly harvested from the Jewelmer freshwater farms in Palawan and are specially selected for their healing properties. The pearl powder, a natural exfoliator that smoothens and brightens the skin, is mixed with pure argan oil, which has extremely high levels of Vitamin E and a high concentrate of fatty acids that can moisturize and heal the skin, as well as protect against premature aging. Other wellness benefits of freshly ground pearls include improving circulation, healing and protection from environmental radicals.
The pearl treatment is then followed by the hilot massage, an ancient Filipino healing modality. Warm coconut oil and banana leaves are placed over the body to allow healing hands to detect areas of energy imbalance and blockages in the body.
