Let the games begin!
“By appreciation, we make excellence in others our own property.”— Voltaire
The Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in the Philippines recently celebrated its annual media appreciation party, Hunger Games-style, at EDSA Shangri-La, Manila’s Isla Grand Ballroom.
The event began with a grand musical orchestration to usher in the parade of “tributes” from the “districts” of Shangri-La’s Resort & Spa Mactan, Shangri-La’s Resort & Spa Boracay, Makati Shangri-La, Manila and EDSA Shangri-La, Manila — just like in the movie.
EDSA Shangri-La, Manila’s genial general manager Patrick Schaub and communications director Cristina del Carmen welcomed some 300 of the country’s media partners, all dressed in “tribute” garb and “Capitol” couture, to the movie-inspired fete.
In his welcome address, President Snow, played by Shangri-La Philippines area general manager Alain Borgers, thanked the members of the media for their support that has strengthened the Shangri-La name through the two decades that it has made a home in this country.
An impressive slew of travel prizes from Shangri-La Philippine properties as well as sister properties across Asia, the Middle East and the Americas were raffled off, with grand prizes of round-trip tickets to Toronto and Tokyo given away courtesy of the nation’s flag carrier, the Philippine Airlines. A Hunger Games-inspired spread was prepared by EDSA Shangri-La, Manila executive chef Warren Brown.
The Shangri-La hotel chain has four luxury hotels and resorts in Manila, Cebu and Boracay, with a fifth one, Shangri-La at The Fort, to open in Bonifacio Global City next year.
More power!
