A world of music
We are the World, a concert for the rehabilitation of a hospital in Leyte devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda, was successful in bringing the voices of the international community in harmony recently with many ambassadors and their spouses singing and joining the chorus on stage.
Complementing the group singing were Austria Consul General Washington SyCip and Monaco Consul General and “World of Music” event chairperson Fortune Ledesma. International Bazaar Foundation (IBF) chairperson Gretchen del Rosario, wife of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, led the evening’s celebration.
Secretary Del Rosario commended the courageous, dedicated and resourceful Missionary Benedictine Sisters of the Divine Word Hospital for helping, saving and uplifting the lives of families in the typhoon-devastated areas of Tacloban.
World-class performers like soprano Rachelle Gerodias, Jed Madela, Jacqui Magno and the World Championships of Performing Arts, to name a few, all shared their talents and support for the generous efforts of the IBF and the Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM) in this endeavor to bring hope and joy to the people of Tacloban through music and songs.
The concert was held at the main ballroom of the New World Makati Hotel, with special compliments to its general manager Farid Schoucair, who provided 500 guests with impeccable cocktails and gastronomic delights.
