Jerseybelle!
Luis “Chito†de los Santos’ keen interest in the use of stretch fabric started last year when a foreign company commissioned the designer to produce sexy evening outfits using jersey. The initial request gave way to repeat orders and other designs were born. De los Santos was impressed with the material’s qualities that allowed it to achieve various shapes without the need for bias cutting.
“I was so encouraged to find out how far I could go with the material that I brought out my old pattern books and started experimenting,†shared De los Santos.
For this collection, timeless femininity was rendered in a fascinating rich color story of black and cherry, black and gold, carnation with French rose, apricot and plum, teal blue and sea green, burgundy and taupe for party dresses while beige and nude with silver for bridal wear.
Manipulation of fabrics like jersey, stretch tulle and stretch lace lines up a bewitching elegance. Sensuous twisted drapes, femininely interpreted raglan sleeves and straight-cut pants, romantic soft sheered half circle godet skirts and provocative low-cut necklines with belts embellished with soft tulle-covered metals and crystal were among the smooth and sensual designs of the Luis de los Santos’ “Jerseybelle†collection.
