Diplomatic fun in Batangas
Honorary Consul General to Costa Rica Fausto Preysler’s regular tradition of holding out-of-town luncheon for members of the diplomatic and consular corps of the Philippines has become a much sought-after event, with many ambassadors and diplomats taking two- to three- hour trips just to get to Tali in Nasugbu, Batangas.
Every year, our good friend Fausto and his lovely wife Ane Miren would always open their sprawling beach home for a fantastic day of fun, sun, sand and swimming. The informal ambience created by the white canopy tents that quietly ruffle in the soft breeze, the well-manicured lawns, palm trees under which beach chairs nestle plus a breathtaking view of the crystal clear waters of Nasugbu all add up to a relaxing experience for the guests, away from the toxic atmosphere (literally and figuratively) in Metro Manila.
Of course, the “world-famous†Mongolian barbecue that Fausto serves every year without fail is something that guests always look forward to in this much-anticipated out-of-town get-together hosted by the Preyslers.
No less than Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario himself attended the affair last week, obviously enjoying himself as he casually chatted with the guests who all looked like they were also having the time of their life on the beach.
