Hot send-off for the Philippine Volcanoes
A grand and glamorous evening was had by all at the send-off party hosted by Butch and Cris Albert, chairman and president and CEO respectively of Fila Philippines, for the members of the Philippine Volcanoes, the country’s national rugby team, before they left to compete in the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow, Russia.
A lavish meal, overflowing champagne and string music marked the formal dinner held at the Prince Albert Rotisserie of the InterContinental Manila. Thunderous applause erupted as the Volcanoes made their grand entrance.
The program concluded with the presentation of the team’s official jersey by Cris Albert, symbolically galvanizing the partnership between the international sportswear brand and the national team.

Modeling for a cause
Hats off to International Bazaar Foundation Inc. overall chairperson Gretchen del Rosario and Spouses of Heads of Mission president Paulina Mayorga, wife of Chilean Ambassador Roberto Mayorga Lorca, for their joint project, “Global Fashion Flair,†a benefit show held at the Marriott Hotel Manila.
It was a unique fashion show as distinguished members of the diplomatic corps took time off from their busy schedules to promote local couture, walking down the ramp with their lovely spouses. Each one looked every inch a knockout in a number from SM Fashion creations and Kultura Filipino collections.
With Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Monaco Consul General and event chairperson Fortune Ledesma, SM Mart Inc. president Tessie Sy-Coson and Alliance Global Group Inc. chairman Dr. Andrew Tan as partners, the event was a sure winner!
