Summer splendor

MANILA, Philippines - Style and scent reigned supreme as Regatta welcomed summer by presenting a new fragrance, “Leisure,” together with its “Preppy Resort” summer collection. The launch of the two lines was done in ultimate summer style, as the brand conducted a yacht cruise along Manila Bay, as well as a fashion show at the dock in Esplanade, Pasay City.

The Leisure line reflects what the company describes as a Regatta summer with its playful, yet mild, scents: a light combination of freshness for women or an outdoor combination of sand and musk for men. The Preppy Resort line, on the other hand, continues the brand’s tradition of relaxed leisure fashion, made even livelier by bursts of bright and fun summer colors in its key pieces.

Trends also made themselves very apparent as a romantic  rendezvous-inspired fashion show unveiled the pieces in the Regatta summer collection. For men, basic polo shirts and simple flat iron tailored pants were given a makeover with brighter summer hues of pinks and oranges. Women can also look forward to more feminine dress shirts, cotton blouses and colored jeans — mostly evoking a nautical feel.

As Regatta brand director Carlo Rufino put it, “Regatta is about fun, relaxing in style. The scent and the collection complete that experience this summer.”  And that goes with the science behind the clothes, too.

A key element in the summer collection is the use of lightweight chambray, which is softer than the usual summer go-to fabric, linen. Swimsuit pieces made of this fabric are perfect for swimming, sailing and even just lounging around under the summer sun. Loosely knit tops are also available for those who’d like to celebrate summer the coy and sexy way. Indeed, Regatta’s Leisure and Preppy Resort wear is  bound to be the summer staple of 2013.
