Beauty with responsibility
MANILA, Philippines - The earth is blessed with so much treasures and beauty. If all humans are stewards of this world, it’s only fitting that an ambassador be named to help promote environmental campaigns worldwide.
Tereza Fajksova, 23, from the Czech Republic bagged recently the Ms. Earth 2012 title and was named as an ambassador who will actively promote environmental causes. “My environmental advocacy includes recycling and teaching children about the environment. I believe that when children are educated about the environment at an early age, they are more likely to bring it in their adult years and it will help the earth in the process,” says Fajksova. She includes “Learn, See and Do” (a project that will involve convincing governments around the world to make environmental studies compulsory in early education) in her list of plans to be an effective ambassador.
Early childhood memories brought back Fajksova to where her love for the environment started. “I was a very happy child. My grandfather and I went fishing all the time. I enjoyed fishing with him and my brother. We picked mushrooms. I enjoyed my childhood a lot,” shares the bubbly Fajksova. Her love for her family, she says, is the main reason why she pushes through in life, “I have a loving family. My parents raised me very well. I try to do my best for my family all the time.”
A towering beauty at 5’11, Fajksova loves to get herself involved in sports. Apparently, she engaged herself in different kinds of sports like badminton, volleyball, basketball, swimming and tennis to help her prepare for the pageant. Eating healthy also made it in her prep list but she admits: “I cannot be on a diet in the Philippines because the food is great! I also love mangoes and pineapples here.”
When asked about her beauty regimen, Fajksova says that keeping herself hydrated all the time makes all the difference. “I just drink lots of water and I also try to put the best makeup. Now, there are cosmetics brands like Ever Bilena that will help your skin be beautiful,” she says.
To Fajksova, it will bring her so much happiness if her efforts as Ms. Earth ambassador will have a huge impact worldwide. “We should start taking care of the environment even if it’s one step at a time,” she concludes.
