Champagne fit for royalty

The highly acclaimed Champagne Barons de Rothschild, the newest addition to Titania Wine Cellar’s growing list of premium wines, was recently launched at the Manila Hotel. An exquisite four-course meal courtesy of Champagne Room executive sous chef Christine Zarandin was paired with the bubbly star of the evening and other world-class wines from the prestigious vineyards of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in Bordeaux, France.

A toast to a lady of elegance
If Letty Syquia had her way, she would have let the day pass quietly — but her five sons, Jofe, Jocis, Jomar, Tommy and Joel, thought differently as they surprised their mother with a grand 70th birthday celebration. It started with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Ramon Arguelles and 14 other priests as Letty’s son, Jocis, who shares the same birthday with his mother, gave the homily. The main program followed with a lovely video presentation of Letty’s life as well as a live musical performance by Jose Mari Chan and some of the Syquia family members. It was one of the happiest days of Letty’s life as she was surrounded by family and close friends who paid tribute to her.
