Belle d'automne

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Imagine yourself in the autumn woods, lost in the enchanting charm of fiery brown reds, vivid yellows, and lively orange hues. Visualize yourself running your fingers on leaves of bright russet and tree barks of coffee and cinnamon, while marveling at the beauty of nature around you. Translate these elements into extraordinary gems and you get a jewelry collection that is breathtaking, unique and simply beautiful.

Miladay, the 46-year-old fine jewelry company, is set to raise the bar in the world of jewelry once more with its launching of the Belle d’automne collection. The jewelry company is the first to feature these diamonds in a stunning collection.

Natural-colored diamonds are a rare find in the jewelry industry. They are so rare that in every 10,000 diamonds, only one is a natural colored. Just like the common colorless diamonds, they are created from carbon, molded and hardened by heat and pressure. What gives them their color, however, is the presence of minute organic trace elements and natural processes that change their normal compositions. The idea that this phenomenon happens very rarely is a miracle in itself.

The Belle d’automne collection features colored diamonds in exotic shades of cognac, green, orange and yellow hues, set with white diamond brills in handmade gold settings. These pieces are unique because of the natural cuts and forms of the stones. Miladay successfully showcased the wonders of these exquisite products of nature by transforming them into beautifully wearable pieces while still intimately retaining their natural and raw forms.

When asked of the reason why they created the collection, Michelle Dayrit-Soliven, president and chief creative officer of the company, answered, “When the prices of white solitaire diamonds rose, we came up with a look for less with the Marqueza collection using smaller white diamonds in illusion-type settings. But still we felt the need for our Miladay clients to wear diamond solitaires. So when we found this lot of loose natural-colored diamonds, we decided this would be perfect for the special Miladay collection we were looking for. We got down to designing and creating something different, fashionable, modern, attractive and elegant but at a fraction of the price.”

Yvonne Dayrit-Romualdez, chief operating officer of the company, added, “For us, it is the vibrant colors of these diamonds that make them special. On top of this, they are diamond solitaires that you can wear daily.” The diamonds have also retained their natural qualities because they have not been so modified and altered. This quality makes them different from other gems that are polished and cut to perfection because they still bear some of their rawness, making them uniquely beautiful.

This collection was made with the finest workmanship in one of Miladay’s best production houses. The natural-colored diamonds, on the other hand, are from Australia. The whole process of creating the collection took over a year to make sure that everything is handcrafted with the highest of standards.

Once again, Miladay proves that it is at the forefront of the industry when it comes to producing collections that are unique and timeless. The Belle d’automne collection is a breath of fresh air. The pieces are just the perfect treasures for fashionable, modern and practical women who are seeking something different of good value.
