The All Nations Women’s Group (ANWG) of the YWCA of Manila, Inc. recently celebrated its 65th founding anniversary at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. To mark the momentous occasion, Pearls of the World: Women of Elegance, a fashion show featuring national costumes of different countries, was held led by ANWG president Sally Maliuanag.
The ANWG was founded in 1947 upon the invitation of then-president of YWCA Manila to a group of 18 women representing different nationalities. Established to promote internal fellowship and goodwill, the ANWG also espouses worthy causes such as awarding of scholarships to needy and deserving students.
Exceptional performances by singer Pinky Marquez and the Philippine Barangay Folk Dance Troupe added more flair to the fabulous affair. Some of the ladies who came garbed in elaborate costumes were Paulina Mayorga Lorca of Chile and Caecilia Legowo of Indonesia, ABS party-list Rep. and ANWG external vice president Baby Pizarro with ANWG past presidents, Baby Luat and Philippine Red Cross treasurer, Baby Bayani-Ortiz.
