Every girl wants to be dolled up!

- Bianca S. Valerio - The Philippine Star

Subject: Ria Regino

Underneath every shy individual is a woman raring to come out to celebrate her femininity. Even shy and tomboyish photographer Ria Regino, who’s a genius behind the camera lens, gets her time to shine in front of it! Here’s how:

1. Ria has golden morena skin that’s absolutely flawless! So she doesn’t need a whole lot of foundation or concealer. Opt for a tinted moisturizer instead like Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer in Medium. But if you want it to have a dewy finish, mix it with a drop of Smashbox Artificial Light in Glow.

2. If there’s one thing that looks amazing on deeper skin tones, it’s a pop of color. Play up those peepers with some sparkly aqua liner on the inner eye rims, which complement brown and hazel eyes. Try Styli Style Glitter Lid Liner in Aqua.

3. Since Ria’s eyes are the focal point, balance out the look by pairing it with nude lips. Opt for one with full moisture for fuller, more kissable lips, like Colour Collection Make-Up Artist Edition Lipstick SPF15 in Maple.

4. Bring out those golden tones with a warm matte bronzer blended on the temples, jawline and edges of the face to give it more dimension! Try The Balm’s Bahama Mama.

5. Ria has a youthful face with fuller cheeks. To make the face look leaner, iron out those tresses then rub on a few drops of L’Oreal Mythic Oil Nourishing Hair Oil to keep hair glossy and supple. Allow it to fall on the sides of the face rather than tucking them behind the ears for a contoured effect.

Subject: Michelle Asuncion

Michelle Asuncion is your everyday kikay girl who loves to get dolled up! She radiates so much positivity considering she once had a deadly brain tumor as an infant. The tumor was located near her eye. Though the operation miraculously saved her fragile life, she’s worn a glass eye on her left eye socket, which also caused a slight imbalance on the left side of her face.

First, every person in this world actually doesn’t have a perfectly balanced face: one eye is slightly bigger than the other or one eyebrow is higher than the other and so on. So, the objective of the makeup artist and hairstylist is to help create the illusion of a more proportioned face.

In Michelle’s case, here are four essential tips on how to achieve a doll-eyed effect:

1. Use a yellow-undertoned concealer to cancel out dark circles. This not only brightens up the eye area but it also gives a more “lifted” effect for Michelle’s droopy-shaped eyes. Try Etude House Surprise Essence Concealer No.1.

2. Michelle’s left eye is considerably lower than the right eye. Since our objective is to make her eyes look more aligned, avoid lining the bottom lash line with a heavy liner. This creates more depth in the lower eye area, which only counteracts the lifting effect we’re aiming for. But still, don’t forget to apply mascara to help give eyes appropriate dimension. Try Maybelline Volume Express Mascara in Extreme Black.

3. Michelle normally parts her hair on the left side of her face, which is also where there’s already a visually heavier side. Create a more balanced face simply by parting hair in the middle, making the center, rather than the sides, the focal point of interest.

4. Alongside with makeup, posing in specific angles can also make all the difference in looking like you’ve got a flawless face. Since Michelle’s face is slightly sloping to the left, the trick is to “lift” the sloping side by tilting the left side of her face up. This creates the illusion that her face looks more balanced.
