Inamorata: Woman as the beloved

- Johnny Litton -

“In a dancer, there is a reverence for such forgotten things as the miracle of the small beautiful bones and their delicate strength.” Martha Graham

A throng of ballet enthusiasts composed of diplomatic and expat community mavens, society A-listers and loyal balletomanes recently gathered at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for the opening night of Ballet Philippines’ Inamorata. Known as a mixed bill featuring the many aspects of woman as the beloved, the show received endless applause from the audience with the stellar performance of Ballet Philippines’ accomplished dancers. It was a visual and auditory feast that gave the audience a mixture of emotions, from love, grief, to strength, with a powerful ending to the hymn of Amar Como El Mar composed by the late Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Delfin Colome.

Seen at the opening night were Italian Ambassador Luca Fornari and wife Silvana, Norwegian Ambassador Knut Erik Solem with wife Audhild, former The Netherlands Ambassador Theo Arnold, Lizzie Zobel and Ballet Philippines founder Alice Reyes, president Margie Moran Floirendo and trustee Beth Day Romulo.

Congratulations to Ballet Philippines for a magnificent show!
