Balancing act

A SPIRITED SOUL - Jeannie E. Javelosa -

Balance. A word so badly needed today. A word we aspire to have, keep and hold in our lives. It is central to the direction of understanding our personalities, our spirituality, our humanity. We wish we could have this forever and ever, but this is not meant to be so. Balance is both the process and the end goal. Balance is about aligning the body-heart-mind-soul to reach spirit.

Here are some things I do to create balance in my life. I hope that they can also help you.

1. Inner work with self-imposed therapies.

2. Meditate and breathe in awareness.

3. Close my cellphone when I am with my significant other.

4. Ashtanga vinyasa yoga.

5. Get an authentic ayurveda treatment massage.

6. Chill out with red wine.

5. Travel with creative food-loving friends.

6. Spend solid time with family.

7. Eat sustainable food.

8. Hug my nieces and nephews.

9. Read Ken Wilber books.

10. Go to Banahaw.

11. Draw or sketch.

12. Gather and arrange flowers. Flowers are a major balancer for me!

13. Listen to world music.

14. Putter around my house aimlessly with no objective.

15. Mentor young people.

16. Teach yoga.

17. Spend time in nature.

18. Write an insightful article.

19. Have dinner with high school friends and lunch with yoga friends.

20. Listen to my podcasts.

21. Fix my books in my library.

22. Watch spy and animation movies with my hubby.

23. Create new ideas and concepts.

24. Hang out in Echostore and Le Bistro Vert.

25. Touch the earth by planting veggies at Echofarms.
