Style of the times

MULTIPLE CHOICE - Luis Espiritu Jr. -

Today’s Filipino men, in general, are stylish. Breaking from the traditional manner of dressing, the contemporary Pinoy has taken a big leap from the mold and is breaking boundaries in the parameters of style. Thanks to fashion bloggers such as The Sartorialist, High Snobiety, 7th Man magazine, laststyleofdefense, facehunter, mistermort, Tony ton and our very own Bryanboy, a handful of other men in the local scene are refashioning and revitalizing the standard dress code. Stereotypes are a thing of the past and men’s styling is an outstanding platform of discoveries. And with this optimistic change comes the resurgence of the old into what’s new.

Renowned fashion designer Rajo Laurel unfolds an inspirational take on local menswear — Rajo Man. Focusing on reinventing classics, modern designs are fused with traditional tailoring resulting to a refreshing look with total global appeal. The old is reinvented anew to form relevant menswear in this fashioning of the times. Extensive research goes beyond ideas and sketches and is incorporated to create up-to-date silhouettes, amazing pattern play and inventive use of fabrication. The collection presents a wardrobe full of stylish pieces to fit the fashion fix for the man-of-the-hour. From classic separates to tapered pants, jackets and mix matching suits, these day-to-night dependables definitely make a statement of modern refinement. The brand’s trendsetting appeal makes it a strong player in the field backed up and aligned with the overall seasonal direction of the established House of Laurel.

Rajo Man was born to address the lack of chic menswear in Manila. In 2007, Rajo and his brother John decided to set up what seemingly was fitting to fill in the void — thus the brand was created. The designer envisions imparting men’s fashion to a broad spectrum of the market bringing forward and affordable style to all. Through the years, the chic brand was able to capture a niche in the local style landscape and has finally gone mainstream with a grand launch recently. No doubt it’s another milestone in local menswear that hopefully raises the style bar to the next level.
