Face of Allure: Luane Dy

MANILA, Philippines –  You don’t have to ask 24-year-old Luzia Jannie “Luane” Dy if she’s a morning or a night person. Her current hosting stint at the early morning show, Unang Hirit, aired over GMA-7 will immediately tell you that this pretty lady is an early riser. Luane wakes up at 3 a.m. (sometimes even on Saturdays and Sundays), when most girls her age are just about to hit the sack after a long night of partying. “I have to wake up early because of my job,” Luane relates. “But I also finish early so I still get to do other things within the day.” After the live show ends at past 8 a.m., Luane proceeds to fulfill her other commitments. She even accepts hosting jobs at night — the 5-ft.-6-in.-tall lass also hosts the entertainment news segment of 24 Oras Weekend. But Luane makes sure that she goes to bed by 10 p.m.

Discipline is probably No. 1 in Luane’s list of rules. This she learned from her role model, her mother. “My mom always reminds me to be grounded and honest all the time,” says this second of three siblings. “According to my mom, I am loving, caring and knows how to take care of my family,” adds Luane, who dreamt of becoming a physician because she was born to a family of doctors. She reveals she started working at a young age. At 14, she joined the Circle of 10 Image Model Search and has pursued modeling and acting since then. “My greatest achievement so far is being able to send my sister to school,” she proudly claims. “She’s a nurse now!”

Luane, who also has a mixture of Chinese and Spanish in her blood, says that simple things make her happy. “I enjoy eating during my spare time.” Her interests range from photography and painting to lawn tennis and books.

“I thank God for all the blessings and I look forward to the future because I know He has great plans for me,” concludes Luane, who is also set to join a teleserye in her mother network soon.
